ABOUT US
Kurdistan is experiencing a rapid rate of development, which is often associated with increased industrialization, population growth, economic development and urbanization as well as climate change impacts. These events generally lead to continuous degradation of the environment and natural resources i.e., water, soil, air, natural habitats and biological diversity. These in turn, if not managed, could eventually slow down and threaten the pace of economic development. Consequently, achieving a sustainable future will require managing these events.
The specific conditions in the Kurdistan Region make it necessary to train professionals and conduct targeted research to address the needs of the people and the natural environment.
To support and promote sustainable futures through training and research to ensure sustainable development and sensible environmental and natural resource management.
To identify the impact of a range of development and human activities as well as climate change impacts on the environment and to propose a range of operational measures and solutions this may be used to achieve sustainable futures.
To provide a framework for promoting research excellence and consultancy activities to achieve sustainable futures.
To contribute to the KRG’s academic and research programs and outreach by conducting joint government and industry research to manage potential threats to sustainable futures in Kurdistan and the wider region.
