Enhancing and Developing Leadership Knowledge and Skills

IDEAL Offers workshops and conferences pertaining to enhancing and developing leadership knowledge and skills including:

  • Providing training in enhancing key leadership, intrapersonal and interpersonal knowledge, skills and abilities to succeed in Higher Education, government and the private sector.

  • Providing training in Enhancing Leadership and success in Making Difficult Decisions.

  • Providing training in Enhancing Women’s Leadership skills.

Capacity Building in Research and Research Training

IDEAL Offers workshops and conferences relating to capacity building in conducting research and research training for the Higher Education and other relevant institutions including:

  • Developing and implementing Research and Research Training Strategies for Higher education institutions.

  • Identifying Research Priority areas for Higher Education Institutions.

  • Providing training to increase research productivity and outputs in Higher Education Institutions

  • Developing efficient and productive research teams in Higher Education Institutions.

Promoting Sustainable Futures

IDEAL has the capacity and a proven track record to help decision makers manage and address some of the urgent sustainable futures issues including:

  • Water Resources Management, Biodiversity, Natural Hazards (Landslides and Floods), Climate Change and its impact on Ecosystems and Degradation of Environment due to both anthropogenic and natural causes.

  • Environmental Impact Assessment, Sustainable Development, and Climate Change Management.

Staff at IDEAL have developed several formal and informal courses in issues related to Geoinformatics, Sustainable Development and Environmental Geo-based solutions.

IDEAL identifies the need for research to urgently manage sustainable futures environmental and geo-sciences related issues. The members of IDEAL have successfully completed many research projects for local, regional and international organizations. These include;

  • Natural habitat loss and mapping biophysical land using remotely sensed information, field data and GIS.

  • Natural hazard assessment and management using GIS and remote sensing

  • Geohazards mapping and management.

  • Climate change and its impact (sea level, vector-borne diseases, desertification).

  • Coastal vulnerability.

  • Geoinformatics applications in agriculture and sustainable farming.
